Plumbing emergencies never happen at a convenient time. Let’s face it, there is no time that a plumbing issue really fits well into your day. However, we have come up with some tips that we hope come in handy should a plumbing issue arise. Our hope in providing these tips is that you can act quickly to help mitigate the additional damage that could happen before a plumber is able to arrive on the scene.
4 Plumbing Emergency Tips
- Shut the water off.
First, be sure you know where your water shut-off is located in your home. If a leak occurs, it is very important that you are able to quickly access the water shut off, to stop the flow of water and minimize damage. - Go Outside
Once you shut off the inside water supply, head outside and turn on the outside spigots. This will help drain pipes quickly and, it is much better to have water flowing on the outside of your house than onto your antique oriental rug. - Rearrange furniture.
It is imperative, that furniture is quickly moved to eliminate the chance of potential damage. Especially if it is in the way of the leak. - Have your plumber on speed dial.
Once a plumbing issue arises it is best to have the number of a plumber that you know and trust.
