Over the next several weeks, we will be branching out on our blog by highlighting our commercial kitchen plumbing services and several local Louisville restaurants we are proud to work with. This week, we’re starting off with a guest blog from the creator of the Instagram account Louisville Food.
I run LouisvilleFood but I also get the chance to work closely with brands like St. Matthews Plumbing on social media. So I’m excited to be guest blogging for them today because we share a deep love for Louisville’s Food Scene. One reason St. Matthews Plumbing loves our local restaurants is the same reason I do. It’s awesome and original. The creativity of menus and dishes in this city has become award-winning.
But St. Matthews Plumbing also loves Louisville restaurants because they’ve had the honor of providing services for several local restaurants and food trucks. St. Matthews Plumbing has helped with repairs and replacements for water, drain, and sewer lines, faucets, and more for restaurants like Diorio’s or Molly Malones. They’ve helped several new restaurants get their commercial plumbing installed and up to code so they could successfully open their doors to the public. (All of us Foodies thank you for that, St. Matthews Plumbing!)
Because of what I do, people ask me all the time what my “go-to” Louisville Restaurants are. I have many that I adore, and honestly, it’s so hard to pick just one for all of these categories! As a local foodie, I love sharing my favorites. So St. Matthews Plumbing asked me to create this list that lets YOU pick a great restaurant according to your particular mood or occasion. I hope you enjoy my go-to spots!

When it comes to breakfast- we love Con Huevos Fresh Mexican Breakfast. With two locations in the east end of Louisville, and many breakfast/brunch/lunch offerings, you just can’t go wrong with this yummy spot. We recommend the fresh squeezed juice of the day and the Chipotle Poached Huevos (pictured)- Homemade buttermilk biscuits, chorizo, poached eggs, topped with chipotle gravy & avocado, served with a side of fresh fruit- Yum!
Brunch
3608 Brownsboro Road
Louisville, KY 40207
Phone: (502) 632-4421
My family loves brunch, and when we are truly craving great brunch and quality family time, we go to Mesh on Brownsboro. The outdoor patio is the perfect brunch spot in spring, summer, and fall. We always start by ordering the Biscuits & Jam and the BLT Deviled Eggs (see picture below) to share.
Lunch

Blue Dog could very easily fit into a great choice for Breakfast or Brunch as well, but I love having lunch here. Sit outside on the patio and you feel like you’re dining at a Cafe in France.
Worth The Wait
With amazing food and a truly unique location- it’s easy to see why Hammerheads is a Louisville foodie favorite. It’s a small venue and they don’t take reservations or call-ahead so be prepared to wait. We assure you it’s completely worth the wait! Grab a beer at the bar, relax and get ready to eat some fantastic grub. We LOVE the Crispy Mac & Cheese Balls and the Duck Tacos!
921 Swan Street
Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 365-1112
Date Night
Louisville, KY 40207
We love River House for the great views, romantic atmosphere and phenomenal food! When the weather is nice, this is a date night favorite. Enjoy live music over on the Levee side, or sit in a cabana booth with a nice glass of wine and enjoy some fresh seafood.
Night Out with Friends
Queen of Sheba Authentic Ethiopian Cuisine
2804 Taylorsville, Road,
Louisville, Kentucky
(502) 459-6301
Want an adventurous and fun meal to share with friends? We love Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant. Great vegetarian options, as well as fresh beef, chicken and lamb. Share a large platter like for a fun and unique dining experience!
Celebration
8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen
350 W Chestnut St, Louisville, KY 40202
When it comes to celebrating something special, we love 8up! With it’s rooftop location, it has great views, music, food and just an all-around social, good time. We love the Braised Short Rib (pictured), the Prince Edward Island Mussels and the Brussel Sprouts.
Happy Hour
1601 Story Avenue
502-890-3892
When it comes to happy hours we love the Butchertown Social! Every day from 5-7, enjoy $1 Baskets of Fries and $5 Burgers! You can’t beat that. Plus great music, trivia, and delicious cocktails. Oh, and free popcorn served during all hours of operation- yes, please!
Dessert
Sweet Surrender Dessert Cafe
1804 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206
(502) 899-2008
Sweet Surrender is a personal favorite, with dozens of rotating cakes, tortes and various desserts to choose from. If you are like me and having difficulty picking just one, take my advice and order a couple options and take the leftovers home- you won’t be sorry!
Late Night Dining
1757 Frankfort Ave.
Louisville, KY 40206
502-907-3800
Red Herring is open late and has some fantastic food and cocktail options. We love the burger and fries!
Taking the Family to Dinner
Mussel & Burger Bar (J-Town)
9200 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40299
This place has a more casual environment. It still offers adult-centered apps, cocktails, and entrees while also unique but crowd-pleasing burgers all at a great price point.
By all means, this is not an exhaustive list– just a few of our favorites. And as anyone who lives in Louisville knows, there are constantly new restaurants popping up. We love trying new places and can’t wait to see this list grow.
If you are wondering what St. Matthews Plumbing can do for restaurants, we encourage you to read more here! Making sure our restaurants and food trucks have properly working plumbing is a critical role. After all, who wants to eat at a restaurant that isn’t up to code?
